Giving Props!!

I have been fortunate to have met a couple of the smartest Men, who schooled me on the political Black History, that we aren't traditionally taught in school. Maybe the revolution wasn't meant to be televised Mr. Herron, but it is definitely shared through the Arts, and in particular, music.

We are first intrigued about certain topics, based on rhetorical statements, based on what we have read and come to know, sprinkled with our own insight. A person hungry for knowledge, will follow up, by reading books on the revolution, add a bomb ass beat, and we have created a newer version of out history books. Tupac is a great poet, who chose to educate us through music, and through my friends exposing me to new material (well, new to me), I found a deeper appreciation for 'Pac, his lyrics and most importantly his message.

From "Brenda's Got a Baby", enlightening us on the struggle of the teenage mothers, to "I Get Around" showing us how some Men REALLY get down (as if we didn't know) to "Hold Ya Head", teaching us how to stay positive in the meekest of circumstance, we where being educated, and most didn't even know it.

Thank you Mr. Stone & Ha-Style, for sharing your wisdom. Today, Sept. 13th, we celebrate the life of Tupac Amaru Shakur!

Share the POWER of your MIND, towards the FREEDOM of ALL people, with a REVOLUTIONARY love~ Elaine Brown

  1. I cannot even begin to explain the positive influences that Tupac Shakur had over my life and many of my friends and family members while growing up. The man was charismatic, showed heart, smart, intelligent, talented and spoke in a most articulate manner. Hated to see his life end, as it did, but his memory lives on.

Gil Scott-Heron was another powerful thinker. Don't know what possessed him to entertain drugs.

  2. Never discount the benefits of "herbal remedies" where do you think many of these "out of this world" ideas come from?
